6th Eastern European eGov Days 2008

Workshop: Customer-centric public service provision

22 April 2008, Prague
CSVTS (Czech Scientific Society)
Novotného lávka 5, 110 00, Praha 1

Contemporary public administrations (PA) have developed a large number of services throughout the years in order to address the needs of modern societies. All public services are somehow related to the needs of specific customers (citizens and businesses), but the "needs-to-services" link is usually not explicit and thus neither straightforward nor direct.
Over the last years, the European Union has co-funded a number of research projects in order to address customer-centric public service provision.
The aim of this open workshop is to present the results of a number of research projects working on customer-centric public service provision. During the workshop, the projects will also have the opportunity to demonstrate the prototype platform that they have developed.
The following projects will present their results in the workshop: OneStopGov, LD-CAST, SemanticGov, BRITE, R4eGov, Pledge.

Workshop chaired by: Konstantinos Tarabanis, Efthimios Tambouris

Note: This is an open event with free entrance. No registration to eeeGov days is required. However, there is a limited number of places which will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Workshop co-organised by:

• OneStopGov

Online one-stop government enables 24 hour, single point access to public services that are integrated around citizens needs (usually life-events). Currently however, online one-stop government projects do not care about citizens needs and do not provide integrated services from different back-offices. The OneStopGov project aims to specify, develop and evaluate a life-event oriented, integrated, interoperable platform for online one-stop government. This platform will be accompanied by a coherent framework for realising and exploiting online one-stop government at all levels.
The guiding vision, challenge, innovation and unique selling proposition for the OneStopGov platform involve: the inherent support of life-events; the active, citizen-centric approach; and the definition and use of generic models (e.g. generic workflows, generic reference models).

• LD-CAST
The project aims at enabling cross border cooperation between European chambers of commerce (CCs) in order to support the development of private company initiatives.
The project will build a European network of LD-CAST portals that will enable end users (mainly private companies) to access in a seamless mode the services provided by public organisations registered in each LD-CAST portals.

• SemanticGov
SemanticGov aims at building the necessary infrastructure for enabling provision of intelligent services by public administration (PA). Through this infrastructure, SemanticGov will address longstanding challenges faced by PA such as: streamlining cooperation amongst PA agencies both within a country as well as amongst countries; easing the discovery of PA services by citizens and businesses; facilitating the execution of complex services often involving multiple PA agencies in interworkflows. To achieve this, the SemanticGov project uses the WSMO framework and the Governance Enterprise Architecture models.
